NSPE-CA Annual Conference and Tour of Mount Wilson Observatory

NSPE-California’s Annual Conference was held at the Parsons Corporation campus in Pasadena.

The conference included an overview by President Andrew Johnson, P.E., and Immediate Past President Michael Ozatalar, P.E., of NSPE-CA activities and opportunities, followed by an NSPE update from NSPE President Julia Harrod, P.E., F.NSPE.

In addition, Mike Ozatalar provided a session on The Design and Construction of the Minuteman ICBM — Providing Deterrence for over 60 years.

Julia Harrod then facilitated a lively session on Engineering Ethics — NSPE Board of Ethical Review Cases: A Discussion on Competence and Standard of Care.

The lunch speaker was Ric Moore, PLS, Executive Officer of the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists, with an update on licensure trends in California.

Conference room programs were followed by a trip up to the Mount Wilson Observatory in the San Gabriel Mountains, then back down the mountain for dinner in Pasadena.

The following day, NSPE-CA held its annual in-person board meeting, followed by the Installation Lunch. Julia Harrod served as the installing officer.
